PDO Muscat of Rio Patras

PDO Muscat of Rio Patras

cellier waterfrontagora |

The PDO zone of Moschato Rio Patras was established in 1971 and sets the conditions and criteria for the production of sweet wines from sun-dried grapes and sweet fortified wines from sun-dried grapes, made from the variety Aspro Moschato. It is a small viticultural area located in a hilly region, east of the city of Patras, near the Rio-Antirrio bridge. The vineyards are north-facing, coastal, and have gravelly soils, producing wines that are slightly different from those of the PDO zone of Moschato Patras.

The wines produced have a golden hue, with aromas of rose, citrus peel, dried fruits, sweet spices, honey, and beeswax. They possess a rich and balanced body, while their finish is generous, with a notably long duration.
